Artist Residency in Olympia Washington: Nina & Jason

Jason and I are gallery owners, mentors, community service leaders, and artists. The both of us share a love and history with screen-printing and have our own shop in the basement of our art gallery. As we transition from studio to classroom we are learning new techniques and refreshing old ones. We are excited to announce we have been invited to be artists in residence at Plum(B) Editions in Olympia Washington! They even invited our 4-year-old son, Rowdy and are assisting us with childcare and housing while there. This is my first residency! I am excited to learn along side Professor John Lysak May 16-May 25, 2016. The residency also includes an exhibition at ArtHouse Design Gallery for Jason.

Professor John Lysak is a master screen printer and a wonderful mentor. John Lysak received his M.F.A. degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988. He has spent much of his time in various teaching positions, and as a master printer at Stone Press Editions in Seattle Washington. From 1995-2013 Lysak was an Associate Professor of printmaking and Art Department Graduate Program Head. Lysak and his colleague Franz Spohn formed Egress Press and Research in 1998.Egress Press and Research is a fine art publishing and research component of the printmaking studio at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Currently Lysak is running Plum(B) editions in Olympia Washington.

If you are familiar with Most Wanted Fine Art you know we work day and night in the community to create opportunities for Garfield residents and artists alike. We host over 24 resident artists who are all active in Pittsburgh creating change. While this work is very rewarding, sometimes it is important to focus on personal art practices to keep the skills sharp! We are thrilled for this opportunity to grow our knowledge and share it with people in our own screen-print classroom.

Thank you! We will be posting photos and videos on our social media pages; we hope you will come on the adventure with us!

Hugs and Love!
