Today kicks off National Blog Post Month and the Best of the Burghosphere 2015 in Pittsburgh. Best of the Burghosphere is a brand new project, where Most Wanted Fine Art is teaming up with Pittsburgh Bloggers to acknowledge and honor the contributions of bloggers through Pittsburgh’s blogosphere (aka “Burghosphere”) with an awards celebration.
The event is the brain child of Most Wanted Fine Art resident artist Sue Kerr. She is an artist who uses blogging as her medium.
Those of bloggers participating in The Best of the #Burghosphere were assigned each others’ blogs at random to familiarize ourselves themselves with the blog and come up with a creative award for the blogger. Sue saved herself as a back up thus wasn’t up for an award so to speak. However she certainly deserves one!
So I present Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents, Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ Blog Since 2005 with “The Best Resident Artist Blogger Award” as part of the Best of the #Burghosphere. Also the “Best LGBTQ-plification Award”! or the “#Amplify Award” Because she deserves all of them for her work as a blogger working to #Amplify the voices the LGBTQ community.
Sue’s blog is a wonderfully written platform with a wealth of information and deeply heart felt posts. She works to honor the lives of the 23 trans women who have been murdered in the US this year. She fundraised for new shelves in the Northside Food Pantry and did a large tote bag drive for her birthday. She writes about living with disabilities, shares delightful tidbits of her life, and community resources with warmth and grace. Sue is also working to create a permanent memorial to the life of Andre Gray. She works behind the scenes on so many projects and highlights the works of others on her blog, she is really an inspiration to me and I am so proud to say we work with her. Please take time and read through her posts.
You can see Sue’s art during “The Art of Blogging” show at Most Wanted Fine Art on First Friday Unblurred Gallery Crawl Opening. A group exhibit exploring blogging as an art form and the other art that bloggers do in their “off time”. Artists include: Vanessa German, Joe Wos, Marcel Lamont Walker, Wayne Wise, Thomas Waters, Amanda Narcisi, Maria Lupinacci, Sally Deskins, John Chamberlin, Diana Loll, Raylene Hoover, Melissa Firman, & MWFA Resident Artists: Sue Kerr and Genevieve Barbee.
